The Mississippi Board of Nursing participates in the Nurse Licensure Compact. Your primary state of residence
determines the status of your compact nursing license. The following documents can be used to
declare primary state of residency consistent with compact law and rules.
- Current driver's license
- Voter registration
- Federal income tax return
- W2 from US government or any bureau, division or agency thereof indicating declared state of residence
- Military form number 2058
If Mississippi is your primary state of residence, your license will have multi-state privileges that is
honored by the other compact states and allows you to practice nursing in those states. A single state license is
issued to nurses who cannot claim Mississippi as his/her primary state or residence.
Federal or military employees are subject to the terms and conditions of the compact and can renew their state license.
If you are currently licensed in this state, your license status will be single state. If working outside of the federal/military
facility, compact terms and conditions do apply.
